摘要: We examine the effects of HMO market structure on premiums from 1988 to 1991. More competition, measured by number HMOs in area, reduces premiums. Although this effect does not appear for IPAs before highest level competition is reached, it appears throughout competitive range Group HMOs. penetration, percent area population enrolled HMOs, IPAs. Since goal managed reduce health care costs creating among plans, our results offer encouragement advocates.
