摘要: Blood flow dynamics has an important role in atherosclerosis initiation, progression, plaque rupture and thrombosis eventually causing myocardial infarction. In particular, shear stress is involved platelet activation, endothelium function secondary flows have been proposed as possible variables erosion. order to investigate these three-dimensional characteristics the context of a mild stenotic coronary artery, whole volume PIV method developed applied scaled-up transparent phantom. Experimental velocity data was processed estimate 3D distributions within volume. The results show that reaches values out normal atheroprotective range at early stage obstructive pathology are also initiated disease. support concept vena contracta associated with jet artery stenosis consequence higher stresses post-stenotic region blood domain than vascular wall.
