摘要: Abstract Despite large investments to modern centralised mixed municipal waste (MMW) management plants (mechanical biological treatment (MBT)), environmental impact has been decreased less than was expected due several determined reasons in Lithuania. Energy consumption for MMW exceeds production volume of alternative energy biodegradable (BDW) fermentation equipment. Produced “technical compost” does not correspond the requirements contamination and quality compost be used agriculture can only as a stabilate overlay landfill layer restoration. This article presents results optimization possibilities BDW one Lithuanian regions. A few alternatives were suggested, but source separation from individual household selected implementation best available target region technical, environmental, economic point view. The carried out experiment with processing tunnel existing MBT plant have shown that biogas output increase up 114 m3 per tonne BDW. approach would allow increasing by 4.9 times producing instead stabilate. In case region, overall exceed demand (including transportation), over 7 thousand GJ year. Thus GHGs (without biogenic CO2) decrease approximately 600 tonnes
