摘要: Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumour in children and young adults. Despite advances diagnosis management of osteosarcoma, there have been few recent studies describing experiences tertiary referral centres. This paper aims to describe discuss clinical features, pre-operative work-up, outcomes these patients at St Vincent's Hospital (Melbourne, Australia). Retrospective study fifty-nine consecutive managed for osteosarcoma between 1995 2005. Median age was 21 (range, 11–84) years. Gender distribution similar, with thirty-one male twenty-eight female patients. Twenty-five had femur, eleven each were located humerus tibia, six identified pelvis, one clavicle, maxilla, fibula, sacrum, ulna radius. Pre-operative tissue obtained through computed tomography-guided percutaneous biopsy over ninety percent Following initial therapy, fifty remained relapse-free during follow-up period, twelve twenty-seven documented as having local distant disease recurrence, respectively. Of recurrent disease, sixty-two disease-free following subsequent surgical intervention (most commonly, pulmonary metastatectomy). Patient can be optimised a multidisciplinary approach centre. At Hospital, survival relapse rates compare favourably published literature.
