摘要: We have previously described a yeast mutant (mas1) that accumulates mitochondrial precursor proteins at high temperature and is deficient in the activity of matrix-localized protease which cleaves presequences from proteins. now cloned sequenced wild-type MAS1 gene found it encodes subunit processing protease, essential for cell viability protein product participates its own cleavage during import into mitochondria. The thus first genetically defined component pathway.
