摘要: What proportion of people in the U.S. are imprisoned? Would knowing this number affect one’s views on justice? Policy-makers, voters, and consumers need a sense such quantities to help shape effective policies, schools must prepare students for roles. Our past research has documented changes individuals’ numerical concepts—and often their issues—after they received single critical number. In experiment, we examined eighth grade within Numerically-Driven Inferencing paradigm (NDI), using an experimental method (EPIC) which participants: Estimate policy-relevant quantities, state Preferences these, briefly receive actual as feedback Incorporate, offer preferences again that may exhibit any policy Changes. Students were then asked (postEPIC) recall indicate current preference quantity—either eight or 84 days after feedback. Memory values was considerable days, still evident 12 weeks. Further, feedback-triggered shifts also both post-feedback. Therefore, spawned by minimalist interventions‐‐briefly viewed solitary numbers‐‐can have substantial longevities.
