摘要: Abstract Background Mutations in the BRCA 1/2 genes increase risk of developing breast and/or ovarian cancer compared with general population. However, is low at age 30, and for women younger than 25, no preventive or screening options are available. Scientists wonder whether genetic predictive testing appropriate a very young age. Furthermore, although have positive attitudes toward testing, their understanding information seems scarce. Objective To assess how (18–24) versus adult (30–45) population- level understand about testing. Methods 302 read an informative pamphlet answered ad-hoc questionnaire assessing usefulness decision making, intention to undergo comprehension (perceived, general, comprehension; open-ended questions). Results Younger had lower important information; it was more difficult identify figures cancer, they showed errors when answering questions. Limitations limited by study’s hypothetical nature. Conclusions Young seem particular difficulty information. Practice implications Counsellors should be aware difficulties
