摘要: Helicopter transportation of acutely injured or ill patients has become common practice at most major medical centers. However, its specific effectiveness in the acute-condition with burns never been critically assessed. This study, for period 1984 through 1988, evaluated use helicopter to a regional burn center rural area. It is concluded that transport within 180-mile radius non-hospital-based system not appreciably faster than ambulance transport, and does clinically benefit burned patients. Consideration such as safety, cost, working space are discussed. recommended least one three criteria be met before transfer considered burns: surface area involved should enough require formal fluid resuscitation, an inhalation injury present suspected, there possible need escharotomy.
