摘要: During the 2013 Academy Awards, satirical newspaper The Onion tweeted a sexually explicit message about child actress Quvenzhane Wallis. While racism and sexism of tweet drew fire, was also hotly defended by comedians who insisted that it functioned to “expand boundaries comedy.” In this essay, is analyzed as “discourse knot” interrogate intersections comedic discourse construction Black girlhood in U.S. culture. study's 2 key findings are first, purportedly “edgy” comedy can function sustain social power hierarchies, second, constitutes an unintelligible subject position Foucauldian sense, necessitating rigorous attention, especially with regard issues cultural sexualization.
