摘要: Landslides are frequently responsible for considerable losses of both money and lives. The severity the landslide problem intensifies with increased urban development change in land use. related slope instability phenomena plague many parts world. Japan leads other nations projected combined direct indirect $4 billion annually. United States, Italy, India follow Japan, an estimated annual cost ranging between $1 to $2 billion. Landslide disasters also common developing countries monetary sometimes equal or exceed gross national product these countries. paramount importance hazard management is by large recognized. Herein lies guiding principle this chapter - describe hazards methods mitigate associated risks appropriate effective manner.
