摘要: The preparation of landslide maps is an impor- tant step in any hazard assessment. Landslides are prepared around the world, but little effort made to assess their reliability, outline main characteristics, and pinpoint limitations. In order redress this imbal- ance, results a long-term research project Up- per Tiber River basin central Italy used compare reconnaissance detailed inventory maps, sta- tistical geomorphologically based density obtained by multivariate statistical modeling. An attempt discuss advantages limitations available outlining possible applica- tions for decision-makers, land developers, environmen- tal civil defence agencies. experiment has confirmed that landslides can be cost-effectively mapped interpreting aerial photographs coupled with field surveys errors uncertainties associated inven- tory quantified. shown GIS makes it easy prepare facili- tates production statistically models. former supply overview distribution easily comprehended do not provide insight on causes instability. latter, giving into instability, diagnostically powerful, difficult exploit.
