摘要: The concept of industrial symbiosis (IS) over the last 20 years has become a well-recognized approach for environmental improvements at regional level. Many technical solutions waste and by-product material, water, energy reuse between neighboring industries (so-called synergies) have been discovered applied in IS examples from all world. However, potential uptake new synergies regions is often limited by range nontechnical barriers. These barriers include regulation, lack cooperation trust area, economic barriers, information sharing. Although several approaches to help identify overcome some were examined, no methodology was found that systematically assessed tracked guide progress development. This article presents tool-IS maturity grid-to tackle this issue studies. tool helps monitor assess level collaboration also indicates path further development an region, depending on where region currently lies grid. application developed Gladstone Queensland, Australia, presented article. It showed third (active) stage five stages maturity, with among strongest characteristic greatest improvement.
