摘要: Previous work has estimated the hydroperiod requirements (saturation duration and frequency) of wetland plant communities by modeling their hydrologic regimes in natural (never drained) wetlands for a 40-yr period. This study tested modeled predictions controlled greenhouse using tree species representing three plus an additional from another community. Bald cypress ( L. Rich.), sweet bay L.), pond pine Michx.), swamp chestnut oak Nutt.) were grown under hydroperiods (continuously ponded 100 d, intermittently 14 unsaturated) loamy sand sapric (organic) materials. (representing Nonriverine Swamp Forest community) adapted well to d ponding producing lateral roots near soil surface aerenchyma tissue stem. Sweet (Bay also adventitious on submerged portion Pond (Pond Pine Woodland) (Nonriverine Wet Hardwood Forest) intolerant conditions. Seventy-five percent seedlings 87% died continuously treatment level, whereas 100% bald 88% survived. Results this suggest that long-term can be used restoration these communities.
