摘要: Corneal traumatic injury and chemical burn are common types of corneal that may lead to persistent ulceration, opacification angiogenesis. This study aims assess the therapeutic effects underlying mechanisms topical honey in healing cornea after alkaline-induced surgically induced injury. Sixty albino rats were divided into three equal groups included: GI: normal control group, GII: group using a 3 mm filter paper soaked 1 N Na OH, GIII: PRK spatula remove surface epithelial layer. Left eyes GII GIII received treatment while right had only. Honey was applied five times/day left corneas GIII. Assessment inflammatory changes done before scarification index score fluorescein staining score, respectively. Rats sacrificed at 24 hours, 48 hours 7 days After sacrificing, half number used for histopathological assessment other ELISA VEGF, TGF-β TNF-α levels tissue homogenates. There significant improvement ulcer both models honey-treated compared untreated corneas. Furthermore, model, significantly decreased honeytreated ones. Regarding histopathology, there decrease histological inflammation grade non-treated ones model. Finally, results showed level two with more effect Treatment improved surgically-induced abrasions anti-inflammatory anti-angiogenic properties.
