摘要: The diseases of the esophagus and nose are among major factors contributing to chronic cough although their role in different patient populations is debated. Studies animal models humans show that afferent C-fiber activators applied on esophageal or nasal mucosa do not initiate cough, but enhance induced by inhaled irritants. These results consistent with hypothesis activation C-fibers contribute reflex hypersensitivity observed patients gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) rhinitis, respectively. nerves mediating sensitization from probably neural crest-derived vagal jugular C-fibers. In addition responsiveness high concentration acid typical for (pH < 5), also express receptors weakly acidic such as highly sensitive bile acids. nature sensory pathways relevant less understood. Increased sensitivity was reported many GERD rhinitis who complain indicating additional endogenous exogenous may be required develop coughing these diseases.
