摘要: Fibernet II is a fiber-optic local area network (LAN) having an active-star configuration. It plug compatible with the 10- Mbit/s coaxial-cable Ethernet LAN at its transceiver cable interface. requires detection of packet collisions; this function implemented in active star node. Collision presence signaled to host transceivers unique in-band optical signal. features improved electromagnetic immunity, absence signal radiation from cables, freedom ground-loop currents due ground potential differences between remote sites, new topology options, and growth path future broad-band services. This paper describes experimental system as Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. A space-time analysis presented which confirms that can support diameter over 4.0 km, contrast coax limited 2.5 km.
