A preliminary investigation into staff satisfaction, and staff emotions and attitudes in a unit for men with learning disabilities and serious challenging behaviours

摘要: People with learning disabilities who also exhibit challenging behaviour live in a social context that should be considered order to understand and deal their behaviours. This includes the characteristics of staff members, satisfaction whole culture environment which they work. The will affect affected by emotions attitudes towards residents living environment. present paper describes preliminary investigation into satisfaction, traditional setting for people both serious behaviours it discusses implications future research. findings indicate was low could improved considerably terms management support. However, level working unit high, as were perceptions practical support from immediate colleagues. results showed coexistence different described positive negative individual members. To assess this, authors used new, 13-item analogue measure, Attitudes Who Display Challenging Behaviour questionnaire. such feelings this particular did not vary noticeably relative whether members felt well supported service or not. new measure may have applications research area.
