摘要: The aromatizable androgen testosterone propionate (TP; .2 mg/day) increased protein and carbohydrate intake stimulated body weight gain in gonadectomized (Gdx) male rats. A higher dose of TP (2.0 protein, but not carbohydrate, was less effective stimulating than the lower TP. Postmortem carcass analyses revealed that elevated both TP-tested groups associated with content. decreased rats treated high due to a reduction fat nonaromatizable 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHTP; or 2.0 also (but carbohydrate) Gdx rats, it did alter composition. Unlike TP, two doses DHTP were equally effective, neither as low gain. results these experiments suggest (a) androgens can increase selection dietary whether they exert significant anabolic effects, (b) alpha-reduced product testosterone, alpha-dihydrotestosterone, is major metabolite responsible for increases caloric caused by (c) decreases adiposity may be mediated aromatized (estrogenic) metabolites androgen.
