摘要: ON THE ROAD TO A REWARDING career after his residency, Ben Springgate, MD, MPH, wanted to find the intersection of health care, policy, and disparities. Without a traditional map show way, Springgate’s compass pointed University California, Los Angeles, School Medicine (UCLA), which serves as one four academic training sites for Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Clinical Scholars Program. As clinical scholar, Springgate hoped build on work he had done medical student resident at Tulane in developing programs homeless New Orleans. But just started UCLA summer 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck created an unprecedented intensive program providing care homeless. “Suddenly, everyone I knew was homeless,” says native few days storm hammered Gulf Coast, way back Louisiana with blessing mentors scholars program.
