摘要: To determine whether high plasma cortisol concentrations are a distinctive feature of depression or is also elevated in other forms psychosis, were measured 59 patients with acute functional psychoses, six non-psychotic depressed and 37 control subjects, all free antidepressant neuroleptic drugs for at least three months. Patients schizo-affective disorder, manic type, had the highest throughout day those major depressive psychotic sub-type higher than controls afternoon evening. Manic schizophrenic above only. Elevated not related to presence mood duration stay hospital, return normal occurred irrespective type treatment used. Thus raised illness, but drug-free specific severe depression.
