摘要: Although prostate cancer (PCa) is the sixth most common type of neoplasm in world and second prevalence among men (10% all cases), there shortage studies focused on primary prevention disorder as well little understanding its pathophysiology. Currently, PCa screening tools are specific antigen (PSA) dosage conjugated to rectal examination confirmed by biopsy. Despite name, PSA presents reduced specificity, being necessary identification new biomarkers that allow an earlier more precise diagnosis even better prognosis. Several have associated matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) tumorigenesis metastasis. Most so far been carried out investigating situ expression metalloproteinases, either transcriptional measures or immunohistochemistry with biopsy postoperative tissue. Investigations human plasma serum scarce, a bibliographical search resulted 17 which presented interpreted herein. This narrative review discusses settings findings along aspects related circulating potential for prognosis prostatic malignancy, expressing authors' reticent view applicability due poor quality evidence available.
