摘要: Abstract: Many medical implants use electrodes to stimulate nerves or muscles, sense their activity. As more advanced such as functional electrical stimulators, cochlear and retinal prostheses are developed, requirements for implantable have become demanding. Whereas pacemakers can be made using simple, large, noble-metal electrodes, newer systems require a complex array of within very small enclosure. This necessitates micro-fabrication techniques both substrates with the final assembly needing retain its biocompatibility. The manufacturing these new types arrays push boundaries current technologies, in formation microelectrodes interconnects. chapter describes processing methods different electrode discusses limitations.
