摘要: Abstract Objectives The purpose of this research was to examine the impact and detectability descriptive norms (perceptions others’ physical activity) on an individual’s self-reported activity. Given suggestion that individuals often underestimate effect others their own behavior, we wished relative weights ascribed normative reasons versus personal for being active. Design A cross-sectional study (N = 75) conducted where participants were drawn from two different settings (office workers university students). Method Participants completed a survey assessed stated active, current activity behavior ( Godin & Shepard, 1985 ), norm perceptions about Results planned contrast revealed (i.e., health appearance) rated as stronger motivators than reason, but regression results predicted after controlling individuals’ perceived Further, associated with friends’ appeared be most individual Conclusions While perception reported less influential in one’s decision highly correlated supporting may more important predicting previously suspected.
