摘要: Tropical ocean modeling has played a major part in the development of our knowledge El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) during Ocean-Global Atmosphere (TOGA) decade. Although foundations had already been laid, it was only with impetus from TOGA that tropical able to develop so extensively. In this paper we discuss wide range models use today, simple complex; ways which their abilities reproduce different phenomena have assessed; and they are being used better understand predict behavior coupled ocean-atmosphere system tropics. Ocean model is far finished, however. Outstanding issues such as forcing fields, improvements, testing strategies, applications also discussed. There at least much work be done next decade achieved last.
