摘要: Mussel farming is an important economic activity in Brazil, and these organisms are consumed by the majority of population most coastal zones country. However, despite increasing pollution aquatic ecosystems little known about biochemical mussels response to metal exposure. In this context, aim present study was investigate metalloid exposure effects Perna perna mussels, determining levels, induction metallothionein (MT) synthesis, oxidative stress, form reduced glutathione (GSH) 3 contaminated areas from Guanabara Bay comparison a reference site, Ilha Grande Bay, both summer winter. Metal concentrations were also compared Brazilian international guidelines, verify potential health risks human consumers. Mussels all sampling sites shown be improper for consumption due contamination, including which has previously been considered site. Several statistically significant correlations seasonal differences observed between MT, GSH metals metalloids analyzed tissues. A Discriminant Canonical Analysis indicated that digestive gland better bioindicator environmental contamination species offers further proof MT variations not since influence muscle tissue glands non-significant analysis. These results show P. adequate sentinel with on stress biomarkers. To best our knowledge, first report metals, metalloids, levels species.
