摘要: We are honoured to be co-guest editors of this issue CJNR focused on advanced practice nursing (APN). In Canada, nurses include nurse practitioners (NPs) and clinical specialists (CNSs) (Canadian Nurses Association [CNA], 2008). It is fitting that publishing APN-focused given the leadership Moyra Allen, founding editor Journal, demonstrated in her early writings about “the expanded role nursing” (Allen, 1977). The research pieces feature articles reflect growing contribution APN roles health Canadians highlight areas where further work required maximize their integration into health-care system. NPs “registered with additional educational preparation experience who possess demonstrate competencies autonomously diagnose, order interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals perform specific procedures within legislated scope practice” (CNA, 2009b, p. 1).
