摘要: There is growing international recognition of the need for practical guidance on evaluating risks and adapting freshwaters to climate change, drawing both field model evidence. This special section Area demonstrates varied ways in which geographers, environmental social scientists, engineers resource managers are beginning address these urgent needs. editorial considers long history experimentation measurement that has informed professional practice catchment water quality management. We assert comparable levels investment commitment now needed guide adaptations change. The research within reflects two contrasting perspectives: (i) top-down, macro-scale, climatic non-climatic risk assessments (ii) bottom-up, micro-scale experimentation, involving adaptation measures at river reach habitat level. emphasise greater efforts required integrate results scales deliver benefits robust large uncertainty associated with projections.
