摘要: Although GIS has a great potential to explore social and political struggles, currently, it is not profoundly associated with Civil Rights studies. This research employs CR-GIS illustrate the impact of disfranchisement caused by biased geopolitics in three selected cases/issues: (1) gerrymandering voting rights, (2) transportation, (3) poverty State Alabama. While there been some progress overcoming struggles Black Belt, need for qualitative quantitative analyses understand persistent social, economic, region. could be valuable tool disempowered communities “Black Belt” By incorporating existing information conducting ground truth studies, this will lay basic foundation extended creating policy template empowering better integration Belt region.”
