摘要: In the Faroe Islands in North Atlantic, traditional diet includes pilot whale meat and blubber other marine food. Fatty fish of mammals may contain high concentrations organohalogen substances (OHSs). Elevated levels OHSs have been reported from Islands, first documented breast milk samples obtained 1987. The aim this study was to determine hydroxylated polychlorinated biphenyls (OH-PCBs) (PCBs) serum pregnant Faroese women known differ their dietary habits. High OH-PCBs PCBs were found part human analyzed, relative OH-PCB PCB congener distributions similar those observed elsewhere. There a wide span between lowest highest with ranges 19-1,800 ng/g lipid weight (lw) 150-22,000 lw, respectively. ratio sigmaOH-PCB/sigmaPCB averaged about 10% varied little. 4-Hydroxy-2,2,3,4,5,5,6-heptachlorobiphenyl most abundant metabolite all four congeners as dominating metabolites serum. More than 25 additional indicated. This confirms presence populations or areas far removed sources.
