摘要: Abstract Background: Empyema remains a cause of morbidity and mortality. Thoracoscopy has proved its versatility in the management pleural space disorders. The suitability video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for decortication fibrotic stage empyema is unclear. Methods: VATS evacuation was performed on seventeen patients presenting with infections. A retrospective review constitutes basis this report. Results: successfully 13 17 patients. Blood loss 325 ± 331 cc. Mean hospital stay 18 10 days.
