摘要: Published data on the effects of androgen deficiency and testosterone administration body composition in men women are reviewed. In experimental paradigms, deprivation decreases lean mass increases fat men, physiologic replacement reverses these abnormalities. The anabolic muscle well-established, current understanding underlying mechanisms discussed. Randomized, placebo-controlled studies have been performed to investigate a number male hypogonadal states, including HIV-associated weight loss, supraphysiologic glucocorticoid administration, aging obesity, with variable outcomes, results There few investigating hypoandrogenemia or women, whom endogenous levels fraction those men. A recent randomized, study therapy profound due hypopituitarism demonstrated an increase skeletal but no change fat. Further research is needed establish androgens regulation women.
