摘要: The life cycle ofPhytophthora cactorum, a fungal pathogen unable to epoxidize squalene, is controlled by certain combinations and concentrations of polycyclic isopentenoids normally found in the host plant. Data that lend support this view are given. fungus capable discriminating between various types amounts steroids triterpenoids terms their uptake, metabolism, effects on growth reproduction. While sterols as well stimulate growth, onlysterols induce significant oospore production. Steroidal alkaloids estradiol fungistatic inhibit sterol-induced primary difference metabolism converted both esters glycosides, whereas only esterified. results demonstrate importance products, compared other isopentenoids, promoters reproduction suggest preference for may have its origin adaptation host-parasite interactions.
