Radiation therapy for brain metastases from malignant melanoma.

摘要: Thirty-nine patients who completed whole-brain irradiation treatment for brain metastases from malignant melanoma were analyzed. Median survival was 2 months, mean 4 months. Only 3 survived 1 year, the longest being 19 months after irradiation. Twenty-one (53.8%) showed marked clinical improvement and 6 (40%) of 15 evaluable had some objective regression metastases. A 7 fractions 4.8 Gy in 9 to 14 days concomitant chemotherapy with dacarbazine lomustine 16 well tolerated. This seems be a beneficial comparatively small intracranial tumour burden.
