摘要: While the important challenges of public deliberations on emerging technologies are crucial to keep in mind, this paper argues that scholars and practitioners have reason be more confident their performance participatory technology assessments (pTA). Drawing evidence from 2008 National Citizens’ Technology Forum (NCTF) conducted by Center for Nanotechnology Society at Arizona State University, describes how pTA offers a combination intensive extensive qualities unique among modes engagement. In NCTF, led significant learning opinion changes, based what can characterized as high-quality deliberation. The quality anticipatory knowledge required address is always contested, but pTAs designed with outcomes mind—especially when understood an outcome.
