摘要: Studies of ice crystal-free eggs the clam Spisula solidissima using freeze-substitution techniques are described. Formation in cells may be avoided by removing sufficient intracellular water prior to freezing. After such treatment, most subcellular inclusions can recognized and have dimensions similar those seen after chemical fixation. Golgi regions, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear envelope, annulate lamellae, yolk vitelline membrane resemble their counterparts chemically fixed eggs. Mitochondria, however, lack space normally found between cristae walls, resulting structure resembles two unit membranes “back back.” Several structures not described: light bodies groups eight near regions; cores occur microvilli membrane, microtubules cytoplasm unfertilized egg 220 250 A particles, which regularly arranged along microtubules.
