摘要: Wernicke encephalopathy (WE) is a severe neurological disorder caused by vitamin B1 deficiency. The aim of the study was to analyse MRI findings typical for this disease and evaluate significance their correlations with clinical symptoms. Magnetic resonance images features 12 patients WE were analysed. underwent MR imaging within 3–14 days after onset In 7 showed symmetrical diencephalic midbrain lesions. Postcontrast T1-weighted from 5 9 examined during initial 6 acute subtle enhancement mamillary bodies, tectal plate, periaqueductal area periventricular region third ventricle including paramedian thalamic nuclei. addition, T2-weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) revealed hyperintense signals in these regions (except 2 where bodies normal). Hyperintense lesions on without any postcontrast detected performed 11 or 14 WE. Patients hyperintensities nuclei had poor mental dysfunction. examination case shows pattern 58% cases. Enhancement nuclei, can be observed period symptoms are characteristic signs stage FLAIR subacute indicators prognosis despite substitution.
