摘要: This article explores food safety regulation in five European countries by comparing their main legislation and organizational characteristics. The aim is to gain insight into the particular characteristics of regulation, understand major differences similarities, reach a firmer understanding how evolves. Food concerns vital questions, field with long history. scandals – 1996 BSE crisis integration have prompted changes. scandal revealed important underlying conflicts interest dilemmas concerning twin objectives ensuring safe while also honest trade food. led questioning existing structures paved way for new regulation. authors’ finding that has similar origins, addresses tasks, raises problems all countries. A tension between protecting public health paying heed business interests, struggle control over this policy administrations agriculture, are common features.
