Fibre persistence on immersed garment—Influence of knitted recipient fabrics

摘要: The persistence of fibre traces is a critical factor in the evaluation findings forensic casework. Many studies have examined loss on living subjects or bodies exposed to open-air conditions but none them ever considered underwater conditions. This first part larger study focuses transferred fibres various recipient garments during an immersion/emersion process as common step all casework involving A smooth polyester garment leads weak values around 20%, while higher values, ranging between 80% and 90%, are obtained for more structured textured (cotton T-shirts, fleece acrylic pullovers).
