Investigation into morphology, microstructure and properties of SBR/EPDM/ORGANO montmorillonite nanocomposites

摘要: Rubber compounds based on styrene-butadiene rubber/ethylene propylene diene monomer blends of different compositions (60/40, 70/30, 80/20, 90/10, 100/0) reinforced with 1 wt%, 3 5 wt% and 7 organoclay (Cloisite 20A) were prepared a two roll mill via vulcanization process characterized by several techniques. Results X-ray diffraction showed expansion the inter-gallery distance, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs confirmed that nanocomposite samples have intercalated partially exfoliated structures. Cure characteristics that, not only accelerates reaction, but also gives rise to marked increase torque, indicating crosslink density increases at presence organoclay. Mechanical properties received markedly clay loading due good interaction established between nanoclay particles polymer matrix as it was evidenced SEM photomicrographs. At same time, rheological addition could improve storage modulus well complex viscosity SBR/EPDM samples. The results ozone test revealed resistance significantly or EPDM content increases.
