Effects of mind–body therapies in children

摘要: Mind–body medicine encompasses different treatment modalities, all focusing on interactions between the mind and body, with intent to using affect physical functioning promote health. Our objective was summarise current evidence four mind–body therapies that have been evaluated extensively for their efficacy in paediatrics: hypnotherapy/guided imagery, meditation, music therapy yoga. A Medline search undertaken of reports reviews published 1990 2011 above-mentioned modalities. Hypnotherapy guided imagery are shown be effective reducing acute pain during medical procedures as well chronic functional gastro-intestinal disorders. Benefits meditation reported mental-health problems, high blood pressure, behavioural problems learning disabilities. Music appears a promising adjunct children undergoing painful or potentially fear-inducing procedures. Positive effects yoga persons eating disorders irritable bowel syndrome. There is considerable interventions mild moderate symptoms, psychological QoL, may particularly helpful coping (e.g. due clinical procedures), abdominal syndrome, problems.
