摘要: Abstract Antibacterial factors in the epidermal mucus of fish have a potential importance first line host defense response to bacterial pathogens. We previously isolated novel antibacterial protein termed SSAP ( Sebastes schlegeli protein) from skin rockfish S. and identified it as new member l -amino acid oxidase (LAO) family. In present study, localization was investigated by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR, quantitative real time RT-PCR, Western blotting measurements LAO activities. mRNA expressed dominantly gill weakly ovary or kidney shown RT-PCR RT-PCR. The quantity varied among individuals, ranging 1.1 13.9 ng μg −1 total RNA, although no relationship found between size gene expression. exclusively detected using specific anti-SSAP antiserum. addition, extracts both tissues apparently showed activity against Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida . This study demonstrates that is predominantly synthesized probably functions an tissues.
