摘要: Ball-on-flat friction experiments between two austenitic stainless steel antagonists in sliding contact are carried out under very low loads and liquid environments, namely demineralized water methanol. The wear debris produced during long-duration tests characterized by different techniques such as X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy Mossbauer spectroscopy. Martensite is observed a dominant phase the but other phases have been also identified. In water, there significant contribution of second phase, which poorly crystallized was identified hydrous iron oxide called ferrihydrite. methanol, remaining amount austenite that not transformed into martensite, presence ferrihydrite has detected small quantities. formation martensitic occurs from beginning supports fact our experimental conditions main damaging mode abrasive hard particles.
