摘要: Abstract The characterization of the corrosion products formed on carbon steel SAE 1070 after one year exposure to open atmosphere in Antarctic (polar climate) and Easter Island (subtropical has been carried out by means transmission 57 Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). major constituent rust environment is goethite (α-FeOOH). samples also show presence a large proportion lepidocrocite (γ-FeOOH) small amounts ferrihydrite maghemite (γ-Fe 2 O 3 ). In case samples, layers. under contains and, lesser proportion, maghemite.
