摘要: The effect of induced long-term undernutrition on blood composition was studied in red deer. Food-restricted animals (n = 3) received 20% the ration control for a period 13–23 weeks. An initial large mass loss and increased packed cell volume food-restricted suggested malnutrition-induced dehydration. Serum alkaline phosphatase activity decreased, suggesting an hepatic (or) intestinal excretion lowered osteoblast activity. Plasma creatinine urea concentrations increased, reduced kidney function decreased excretion. In addition, serum nitrogen concentration probably reflected endogenous protein catabolism haemoconcentration. Albumin status.
