Strengthening group decision making within shared governance: A case study

摘要: Shared governance is an approach to empowering nurses and other health care workers have authority for decisions concerning their practice. Commonly, visible definers of shared are groups known as ‘councils’ whose membership works collectively realise a goal. The literature replete with rhetoric the benefits yet evidence base especially decision-making within scant. This paper presents case study group UK council model. which informs drawn from doctoral action-research strengthen model. Eight key factors affecting four supportive conditions presented incorporated into conceptual Within study, presence these was found be necessary but not sufficient enhance decision-making. Factors included having clear issue, aim, fitting manageable size, lead person allocated, level authority, background information, informant/s, mechanism evaluation, adequately skilled members, support/guidance sufficient/appropriate membership.
