摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses spin-dependent effects in inelastic electron–atom collisions. Spin-polarization can be caused by electron exchange, explicit forces, or a combination of both effects. The term “explicit spin-dependent” means interactions that correspond to particular the Hamiltonian. is contrast effects, which are because Pauli principle, and exchange only. most important Hamiltonian corresponds spin-orbit interaction. Furthermore, scattered electrons expected polarized, even if all very small, provided it possible separate single fine-structure level electronic channel. first successful collision experiments with polarized atoms were reported at Satellite Meeting on Electron Atom Collisions 10 th ICPEAC Conference Paris 1977. results these new kind information ionization, ionization asymmetry, also related ratios singlet triplet interference total cross sections.
