摘要: OBJECTIVE To assess the effects of early postnatal dexamethasone therapy on hematologic values in preterm infants. MATERIALS AND METHODS We reviewed data 179 infants who participated a double-blind clinical trial (<12 hours after birth) for prevention chronic lung disease. One group (86 infants) received saline and other (93 dexamethasone. Dexamethasone was given intravenously every 12 tapering doses: 0.25 mg/kg days 1 to 7, 0.12 8 14, 0.05 15 21, 0.02 21 28. Blood samples were obtained 0, 3, 10, None prenatal steroid therapy. RESULTS Multiple regression analysis revealed significant differences versus time curves white blood cell, neutrophil, lymphocyte, basophil, eosinophil counts between two groups. The cell count significantly higher 7 through this associated with numbers segmented neutrophils band forms lower lymphocytes eosinophils. hematocrit platelet similar groups throughout most trial. Except count, did not alter bacteremia. CONCLUSION affects neonates. This should be taken into consideration when evaluating are receiving dexamethasone.early therapy; neonatal count; infant; respiratory distress syndrome.
