摘要: Since the introduction of dengue serotype 2 (DENV-2) in 1990, two additional epidemics associated with this occurred 1998 and 2008 respectively. The epidemic was considered to be greater magnitude not only number reported cases, but also severe fatal cases. During epidemic, cases country 806,036, exceeding DENV-3 2002 hitherto largest ever recorded country. Phylogenetic analysis DENV-2 strains isolated during state Rio de Janeiro, showed that despite belonging same genotype (American / Asian), viruses are genetically distinct grouped into a lineage from 1990 1998. Considering most Brazil deaths, main objective study investigate whether new strain may have contributed severity observed epidemic. To end, using real time PCR viral load produced by lineages quantified sera 102 previously confirmed virus isolation and/or RT-PCR selected according period circulation. RNA quantification performed protocol described Poersch (2005). obtained samples corresponding correlated disease following WHO clinical classification criteria, age, gender, immunological status (primary secondary infection) day illness. II were higher than those I (p = 0.001). Higher viraemia when compared This demonstrated is an important factor complex dynamic fact we found no association between type infection, gender suggests more virulent
