摘要: Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is an animal model of CNS inflammatory and demyelinating disease multiple sclerosis. Microglia astrocytes represent two related cell types involved in the brain pathology EAE. Accumulations hypertrophic reactive astrocytes, intensely stained with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), which also expressed vimentin, are prominent features EAE lesions. Recent studies from our laboratory reported that ribavirin attenuated process by reducing clinical histological manifestations. was induced genetically susceptible Dark Agouti rats syngeneic spinal cord homogenate complete Freund's adjuvant. Real time PCR immunohistochemistry were used for determination GFAP vimentin gene tissue expression. We have observed increased expression rats. Ribavirin treatment significantly decreased number at peak disease. At end disease, we GFAP(+) vimentin(+) both immunized ribavirin-treated groups, accompanied level mRNA. The present study indicates may ability to attenuate astrocyte proliferation scaring modulate astroglial response during time-course
