摘要: Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is an animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS) and the helpful tool in preclinical testing various substances considered for treatment this human CNS disease. Ribavirin (R) tiazofurin (T) are purine nucleoside analogues, with broad spectrum anti-viral, anti-tumoral anti-inflammatory properties. We proposed that combined RT, administrated during effector phase EAE, would attenuate disease severity, both clinically pathologically. was given daily at a dosage 30 mg/kg 10 every other day 15 days. detected amelioration clinical signs faster recovery RT group compared to control group. Immunohistochemical analyses revealed decrease number T cells, macrophages microglia. In controls, we reactive type microglia, while noticed ramified/resting form. Demyelination areas axonal damage were not recorded group, contrast where demyelination zones loss found. combination suppresses ongoing prevents loss, therefore may well be potential therapy MS.
